Join us for a full-day, hands-on training led by Dr. Staci Kehir, Medical Director at Greenville County Animal Care and President of the Association of Shelter Veterinarians, focused on the ASV Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters. This practical, working session is designed to help shelter and animal care professionals understand, interpret, and apply the guidelines in real-world operations.

This course goes beyond lecture and builds practical understanding through guided activities and peer discussion. Attendees will complete a self-assessment of their own organization’s current alignment with the ASV guidelines and leave with tools they can immediately put into use.

Training features include:

·         Section-by-section overview of the ASV Guidelines for Standards of Care

·         Plain-language, one-page synopses for each guideline section

·         Guided self-shelter assessment: “Where are we now?”

·         Interactive quizzes to reinforce learning throughout the day

·         Build-your-own compliance checklist to take back and implement

·         Clear explanation of ASV guideline levels: Unacceptable, Must, and Should

·         Real-time discussion of common operational roadblocks and practical strategies to navigate them

This training is Part 1 of a 2-part series. Part 2 will be offered at a later date and will dive deeper into complex compliance topics, advanced application of the guidelines, and how to leverage the standards to support funding requests, staffing proposals, and resource advocacy with decision-makers.

Ideal for shelter leaders, veterinarians, managers, board members and municipal administrators who want a structured, credible framework to strengthen standards of care and operational decision-making in their shelters.
